Don't take it with you

What are you taking with you into your day? It's first thing in the morning, what's the first thing you do? Do you check your phone? News? World events? Do you meditate? Pray? Read? What's the first thing you do when open your eyes? For me, (yes, I'm guilty of it too) I check my phone. Now, the funny thing about that is I like to sleep so I have a dnd set during my desired sleep time (yes, desired cause I can't always sleep) so nothings coming through, it's still there but I won't see it, so the first thing I do (and shouldn't) check my phone. Problem is... when I do that, I check the news, scroll FB, check my email and it sets the tone for my day more times than not. DON'T DO THAT
What I should be doing is getting up getting moving and starting my game plan that phone stuff can wait. If something happened that I really need to know I will eventually find out.
When I let things like that set my mood it can cause issues. I might not be as patient as I need to be. I might be anxious, or I might just be a little more bitchy than usual. Yes, I am a christian and I said bitchy, I'm human. So anyway... If I start working with one of my horses and I've had an argument with my ex, or my kids are getting on my nerves, or the wind doesn't blow the right way and it gets me out of whack they can feel it. Horses are the perfect example; if you're nervous they'll be nervous, if you're calm, they'll be calm. They can feel a heartbeat up to 4 feet away so, if I take bad things into my day and carry it with me, I'm going to have a bad day because it's going to touch everything I do.
My thought for the day... Ask yourself a question. What are you taking with you in the morning that you need to leave behind? What is it that is affecting how you see yourself? What is it that you need to let go of to simply feel better?
